Who Are We?
Who Are We?
The Southern African Church and Concert Organists’ Society (SAKOV) bevorder musiek-, liturgiese en orrelboupraktyke in Suidelike Afrika deur kerk- en konsertorreliste, predikante, musiekgroepe, kerkrade en orrelbouers te ondersteun om funksionele, relevante en geïnspireerde diens te lewer.
Since its establishment on 10 May 1980, SAKOV has regularly published an accredited subject journal, titled Vir die Musiekleier / To the Director of Music, as well as newsletters.
Tutorial courses are offered annually in the thirteen SAKOV districts in South Africa and Namibia, and special projects, such as providing publications and recordings, are launched. SAKOV members are exposed to the latest information and news to do with organ music.
With approximately 500 members, SAKOV is a home for all organists and organ music lovers!

SACOS members whose activities, in the opinion of the Executive Committee and management of the society, have made a significant contribution to the promotion of organ or church music in Southern Africa, may be elected as honorary members. Honorary members are elected through an official written nomination by a SACOS member, which also needs to be seconded by another SACOS member. Such nomination is presented to the Annual General Meeting together with the recommendation of the Executive Committee. An honorary member nomination is confirmed and seconded by an ordinary majority vote during the Annual General Meeting.
