Vir die MUSIEKLEIER / To the DIRECTOR of MUSIC is a peer-reviewed academic journal published annually by the Southern African Church and Concert Organists’ Society (SAKOV). It has been accredited by the South African Department of Higher Education and Training since January 2011.
The journal focuses on research and issues related to all aspects of Christian church music in Southern Africa, as well as internationally, from different cultural perspectives.
The glossy publication contains research-based and scholarly articles of an academic nature that make a new contribution and stimulate debate on aspects concerning liturgy and church music; spirituality; hymnology; historical events; and organ building and architecture in Southern Africa. Comments on other (controversial) articles; critical reviews of books, CDs and DVDs related to church, organ and/or choral music are also included. Manuscripts containing other topics of interest, consistent with the scholarly nature of the journal, will also be considered.
The journal will be of interest to academics, organists, worship leaders, church musicians, educators, ministers as well as people with an interest in church music.

Newsletter
SAKOV also publishes a biannual newsletter Newsletters (one in June and one in December). Newsworthy items pertaining to SKOV and its members appear in this newsletter. A total of more than 60 Newsletters have been published to date.
