Welcome To Southern African Church and Concert Organists Society (SACOS)
The Southern African Church and Concert Organists’ Society (SACOS) endeavours to promote music, as well as liturgical and organ-building practices in Southern Africa by developing and supporting church and concert organists (as well as to encourage interest from ministers, music groups, church councils and organ builders) in order to offer functional, relevant and inspired services. The Society facilitates subject-focused liaison between organists and other interested parties, and provides expert information and guidance. SACOS furthermore acts in an advisory role and endeavours to establish responsible guidelines and suggestions – also in terms of organists’ salaries and service contracts.
Since its establishment on 10 May 1980, SACOS has regularly published an accredited subject journal, Vir die Musiekleier / To the Director of Music, as well as newsletters. Tutorial courses are offered annually in the thirteen SACOS districts in South Africa and Namibia, and special projects, such as providing publications and recordings, are launched. SACOS members are exposed to the latest information and news to do with organ music.
With close to 1 000 members, SACOS is a home for all organists and organ music lovers!
