SACOS – Bursaries for studies in organ and church music

The Southern African Church and Concert Organists Society (SACOS) hereby announces the 2021 SACOS Study Bursaries for meritorious studies in organ, organ building and church music.

The purpose of these bursaries is to provide financial support and stimulus for the furthering of quality organ playing, organ studies, organ building, and research in the field of church music in Southern Africa.

The following bursaries are available:

Organ study

  • Post-graduate study bursaries: Doctoral, Masters and Honours
  • Undergraduate study bursaries: Main instrument, Second instrument or Non-degree requirements
  • Study bursaries for scholars
  • Study bursaries for church organists

Church music (Academic)

  • Post-graduate study bursaries: Doctoral, Masters and Honours

Organ building or tuning

  • Training bursaries

Travel bursaries

  • Travel bursaries (for practical participation OR for courses in academic church music), which have to be used for travel costs, accommodation costs, and enrolment fees for attending and participation in an overseas organ-music or church-music course or symposium or congress.
  • A travel bursary to facilitate organ-building trainees, or trainees in tuning, to be able to attend an overseas course, symposium or congress.
