Awards

Awards

The executive committee of SACOS decided at the time of its annual general meeting (AGM) of August 2009 to present awards in two categories.

LONG SERVICE AWARD

This award is given to a SACOS member who has fulfilled service of  20 years (from here onwards in 5 year intervals, eg. 25/30 years etc.) as church musician.

  • Lede met meer diensjare wat nog nie die bepaalde toekenning ontvang het nie, mag steeds daarvoor aansoek doen.
  • Members who qualify for the award must apply to the Chairperson before the end of July of the particular year, who will then refer the application to the SACOS administrative officer.
  • The awards are announced and at the annual general meeting of the specific year.
  • The awards are also published in the December issue of the Newsletter of that year.
  • The certificate for long service is sent by the administrative officer, unframed, via post to the recipient of the award.
  • Presentation of the certificate takes place at the member’s district meeting or during a service at the church where the member serves as organist.

CHARTER

This award is given non-recurrently to a SACOS member after service of 40 years as church musician.

  • Members with more than 40 years’ service, and who have not yet received this award, may still apply for it.
  • Members who qualify for the award must apply to the Chairperson before the end of July of the particular year. The Chairperson will refer the processing and framing of the certificate to the SACOS administrative officer.
  • The awards are announced and at the annual general meeting of the specific year.
  • The awards are also published in the December issue of the Newsletter of that year.
  • Framing of charters are at SACOS’s cost, and will be organised by SACOS’s administrative officer.
  • If the recipient indicates ahead of time that he or she will not be able to personally receive the award at the AGM, it shall be sent to the recipient by post. In this case, the presentation will be done at the district meeting of the member or during a service in the congregation where the member serves as organist.
